Global Approach to HealingAt Staszak Physical Therapy & Wellness Center, we have a number of subspecialties, including extensive experience working with cancer patients. Whether it is post surgery, post radiation, related shoulder or back pain, or lymphedema, we are here to help provide the necessary care as a partner in your healing.
We look at every patient with a more global approach. For example, when someone comes to us with upper extremity lymphedema, we look beyond the swelling and address myofascial restrictions that can be attributing to the problem. We know that without releasing these restrictions the edema has nowhere to go. Whenever a patient has radiation and/or surgery, tissue damage and scar tissue occurs. Manual therapy involving myofascial release and a variety of other soft tissue techniques is critical to release these restrictions and restore healthy tissue. Having been through cancer treatments in our own family, we are able to connect with you at a higher emotional level in addition to addressing your physical needs. We treat all of these issues to help you get past your immediate health concerns and to prevent future issues and injuries.
In providing treatment, we believe in developing partnerships with you and with your doctors so that we can provide treatment that supports your goals. As our patient, you will receive 45-90-minute sessions with our experienced and talented therapists. This allows time for extensive education, performing the necessary manual therapy, proper instruction of exercise and application of different modalities when needed. Our exercise approach focuses on neuromuscular re-education including Pilates rehabilitation, core and pelvic floor strengthening, and postural and functional integration.
